Are you on any other replacement boards that are active?
If so which ones?

shareLots of people on this one

Trying to register on http://thegotboard.com
imdb2 will be dead in the water in a few months... most free forums go that way once the admins become disinterested & if it doesn't die it will become a small clique which happens every time.

shareYea the boards for individual films is what it is all about & archiving so what site does it best will become the new home.
"But you do need the individual boards to become huge."
This is true because regulars will also visit other boards & gain members. I am off to Walking Dead forum in a bit :D

shareplease dont promote that crappy site here. their admin and moderators are on a power trip and are banning users who don't follow their draconian set standards
shareWhich one? imdb2?

Oh so you are promoting that shit site here? Wait, do you know that they cannot even afford a domain name for themselves? lol fuck off back to that shitty place moron they will ban everyone they hate soon. This is what happens when human moderation happens. however when you have automated moderation like we used to have on IMDb, the site flourished and millions of users used to browse.
Previously TV forums are fairly active at a good number of their boards over there Violet, so you might check them out as well. They only have tv shows though, no movies.
I find myself going between 4 different boards now. This site, which is my main site, The Movie DB, Previously TV, and IMDB archive. Set up neatly in my bookmarks, and with notifications, it's fairly easy to keep track of all of my activity at the different boards.
Previously TV
I just registered for imdbarchive.com (which I found in a really weird thread on the Halloween III board) but it doesn't have the trending topics thing which makes this site the so far superior one. Plus, I've gotten used to talking to people here now. But that one seems to have all the boards archived.
sharelayout here is much better too. I am loving it
shareHah Homework! You found our weird bunch on the Halloween 3 board! That made my day!!!
Yeah, IMDb-Archive is cool in that it has ALL of the old IMDb-threads, but nobody seems to be posting there.
Jim is working on getting all of that on this site too, so I think this one will win in the long run.
Oh I didn't have that archive bookmarked! I love it.
shareLOL, yes hi I don't know what was going on in that convo but it wasn't boring....held my attention long enough to get to that link that may be useful because of the archiving. Until we get them all over here, of course.
shareI saw some mention Previously Tv, which I had never heard of till this site went up actually. I was just wondering if anyone else uses that and what your thoughts are on it? Any good?
Even though I'm on MovieChat almost exclusively, I think it's not surprising that a lot of people are looking for alternatives or back ups even in case something happens here. We've all been burned by IMDb, it taught us to always be on the look out for other places too!
I've read PreviouslyTV off and on for the past 6 months. Not a lot, but some. The posters seem like a good group, and I did register, but then found this site.
PreviouslyTV is only about TV. No film or actor boards. The main drawback for me is only mods are allowed to start new threads. You can request of them a new subject/thread, but otherwise have to use the existing threads.
Hm, that's weird about the threads, but I suppose that's their way of keeping the boards clean or what-knot. I might go scope it out and see how it feels. I don't mind the whole just TV thing since that's what I watch mostly now anyways. I mean, I like having all of it like we do here, certainly, but I could make do with solely tv, if need be.
It might just be a nice thing to have in my back pocket, like I said, just in case. I want this site to work out though, and intend on sticking around here for the most part.
Yep, I expect it is about keeping the boards clean. Probably cuts down on trolling, too … Come to think of it, it didn't see any trolling there at all.
Once you get into the threads, it's nice there. It's just that for me it's harder to join in the conversations when I'm limited to only a few subjects, and can't figure out which one my comment best fits.
I do watch more TV than film these days, but still like to talk about and read about films.
I post over at Previously TV as well DreamersxDisease, and kind of like it there. Some of the boards are quite active. I actually didn't know that they discouraged creating new threads until Catbookss informed me, but I did see someone create a thread, and then the mods merged it with another, so I knew something was up. I'd say it's worth checking out.
Good to get some feedback, I'll add it to my message board collection for safe keeping, haha. Thanks!
shareI'm just here. I find IMDB2 kind of pointless since it doesn't have individual boards for movies (I'm already a member on places where I can discuss film in general, I don't need another), and The Movie Database just feels so empty since the movies I'd watch to talk about are empty (something about the archives makes it feel more comfortable being on the individual boards here, even if it's been months since the last post).
shareSame here. I've started posting threads in individual movie boards, even if there is no recent activity. Someone has to start the discussion back up, so it might as well be me!
I also enjoy reading the archives. Love that I can still benefit from the insights of people who posted years ago on IMDb.
