Hello keybored and welcome! Were you also on IMDB as well? I was once a longtime user of the site myself, but do not plan to go there much anymore. Seems like we're meeting more and more former users lately! Hope to see you around here again sometime soon!
Hi. Yes I was a member of IMDB for 11 years under a different nickname and was disgusted that they closed the boards down. I relied upon the forums for a better opinion of what a film was about and to learn other information you wouldn't find just in a review.
Sometimes I just wanted to add my thoughts or ask a question and I liked it's simple format which I see retained here. Other sites I have looked at are too bulky, badly designed or padded out when simplicity does it for me. It's nice and clean and easy to navigate.
I shall be recommending this forum to all other IMDB orphans looking for another home. :)
I'm glad to hear that we share similar feelings about what IMDB did as I also heavily relied on the message boards too for TV shows, movies and more. As for my IMDB username, I decided to carry it over here for convenience and familiarity.
I am also one that likes to discuss these types of things as well and was heartbroken when they took that away. Moreover, I have to agree with you as well considering the layout of this site, which looks very similar to IMDB.
Lastly, I have to give serious credit to the creator and owner of this site (Jim Smith) for all of his hard work here. Jim, if you're reading this, sir, you are doing a GREAT job so far! Just thought that I would let you know that your tireless dedication to this site (and us) has NOT gone unnoticed! :)
I hope IMDB loses out big time on their decision to sites like this because I don't think many people are going to like being told by every film company and promoter how great their film is which is probably what will happen from now on as the general public can no longer have their say. I liked the broader opinion and found many a good film by reading what people said in the forums rather than the reviews or rating. Seems to be a growing trend lately to cut out forums or limit free speech on some sites.
Couldn't have said your last paragraph any better myself! Thank you Jim Smith!
