Evan - I believe it might simply be due to the constant and intermittent updates to the site as a whole that are going on. That is to say it's perhaps getting big changes and needing to reset things, and will probably continue up to a little while after everything finally shuts down and gets archived in full.

Just my guess.

I also was surprised that you creating boards for every movie/tv show. To test this I checked out "How to get away with murder" and it does exist.

Are you planning to basically do a full back up of the imdb forum and copying it here?

With regards to funding the servers (there is a lot of data to be stored), you can do a google adwords. If you can get 1000s of hits per day, this should cover the costs of your server/hosting.

Sunama, the FTP links you posted don't appear to have the message boards, just metadata about movies, actors, etc. Can you confirm?
