Like on the most active boards we need to tell people about it. Just give it as much exposure as possible. Current tv shows, classic movies, top rated movies, new movies, up coming moives. Need to spread the word as much as we can. You tube, face book, twitter, etc....

Themoviedb.org are becoming more active now. I'm seeing more people on there even making discussions for older films and new ones. What IMDb backup you're referring to?
shareKia, many of the movie and actor message boards from imdb have already been ported here! In many cases, we can continue the discussion where we left off rather than start anew. Pennywise was saying that the other boards don't have that.

Because TMDB have active movie discussion. All I can find here are archived posts from IMDB with mostly no active discussion. Here you have traffic in general boards, compared to IMDb2 its really dead. So atm moviechat is in now way better than the other two boards.
shareI've been trying to do my part by spreading the word in my favorite forums, but my attempts seem to be in vain for the most part. I get the impression that most of the people on these boards are just glossing over my announcement. When someone posts in a thread right over mine saying something to the effect of “I'm gonna miss your posts dude” right after I just announced that the threads from that particular forum with these same posters are in place at this site, it's really frustrating!

Hopefully once MovieChat gets established, it will pop up for google searches on individual movies, and more people will find us that way.
I've been commenting on various discussion threads to mention this site. But the people who created the other potential IMDb replacement, "themoviedb" (which is basically a ghost town with no activity) have been blanketing the old IMDb message boards already. I think people might be confused about which is which.
Lots of folks still don't realize that the old boards are archived here, and that this is the best replacement for IMDb.
Scattered is bad , it's terrible. I already have userscript that directly links movie from imdb to here. Icon at bottom which takes to specific movie page , easier to navigate .
