Lesley Ann Warren's TV movies

I thought I'd start a few threads to discuss the TV movies of several actresses known for being the "Queens of TV movies". Here are the Lesley Ann Warren TV movies I've seen:

1. "Willing to kill: The Texas Cheerleader Story" (1992) Lesley is terrific as a woman who tries to hire a hitman to kill her daughter's high school rival.

2. "A Mother's Revenge" (1993) Lesley's daughter is raped and beaten by a school janitor. When he gets away with it, Lesley kills him.

3. "In Sickness and in Health" (aka. Hearts on Fire) (1992) Lesley gives an Emmy-worthy performance as a woman suffering from multiple sclerosis.

4. "Murderous Intent" (1995) Lesley tries to kill her new husband's ex-wife.

5. "A Seduction in Travis County" (aka. Blind Judgement) (1991) Lesley falls for her lawyer and murders his wife.

6. "A Fight for Jenny" (1986) Lesley loses custody of her daughter, just because she starts dating a black man.

7. "Apology" (1986) Lesley works a hotline inwhich people call to confess and apologize for their sins. A murderer calls.

8. "Bound By a Secret" (2009) Lesley's dying of cancer. Meredith Baxter plays her best friend.

9. "Portrait of a Showgirl" (1982) Not as good as it sounds.

I've only seen A SEDUCTION IN TRAVIS COUNTY and MURDEROUS INTENT, but I bought
BEULAH LAND (mini-series) the other week, and watched it a few nights ago. I loved every minute of it. Warren was just awesome as "Sara' and it was so interesting to see a very young Meredith Baxter Birney (before her split with David) also a very young Madeline Stowe, I had to look twice to make sure it was her. I had intended to watch it over 2 nights, but got so engrossed in it I ended up watching the whole lot.(got to bed about 4 in the morning) this mini-series definitely belongs to Lesley Ann Warren.

I've never seen "Beulah Land", but I love both Lesley and Meredith, so I just ordered the dvd (it's currently only $7.49 on amazon.com)....

Two years ago, when "Bound By a Secret" aired, I read an interview with Meredith. She said that she was very cold to Lesley when they shot "Beulah Land" all those years ago. Meredith said that back then, she wanted Lesley's part (the lead role) and she thought she was the bigger star, and she deserved the bigger part. Meredith said that as soon as she learned she was going to act with Lesley again in "Bound By a Secret", she called Lesley to apologize for how immature she behaved on "Beulah Land". Meredith said that Lesley had no memory of Meredith being rude or difficult, and that all was forgiven.

That was an interesting anecdote about Meredith and Lesley. Thanks for sharing. I only saw parts of Bound By A Secret, but I'd love to see the whole thing because I do enjoy these two actresses. Meredith Baxter's autobiography Untied is a great read, with some nice tidbits regarding some of her tv movie roles.

I also thank you for sharing about Lesley and Meredith, quite frankly I can't picture MB as "Sara" but anyhow, you won't be sorry you've purchased BEULAH LAND lucky you to be able to get it so cheaply, I paid $42 for mine, unfortunately when it comes to cheap movies, Australia is woefully backward, I think we pay more than any other country in the world, and we don't have access to the channels that run a lot of those great TV movies, that's why I haven't seen many of the titles named on this board, if I want them badly enough, just have to fork out the $$$ for them

I wanted to update this thread, since I recently watched Lesley's 1979 TV movie "Portrait of a Stripper" (not to be confused with her 1982 TV movie "Portrait of a Showgirl".)

"Portrait of a Stripper" is far superior to "Portrait of a Showgirl". Lesley plays a young widow who becomes a stripper in Los Angeles to support her son. When her dead husband's parents find out, they try to get custody of her son. I would highly recommend this one to Lesley's fans. If it is ever restored and released on dvd, I will buy it immediately.

I`d love to see HAROLD ROBBINS 79 PARK AVENUE again. It starred Warren and Marc Singer. I never see it available anywhere.

I've seen 79 Park Avenue.
I've also seen Lesley in The Daughters Of Joshua Cabe.
The first and best of the Joshua Cabe films.

I watched another one of Lesley's TV movies:

Betrayal (1978) Lesley stars as a very troubled woman in NYC. She wears a trench coat at all times, and she has sex with anyone who's "nice to her"- including a lesbian. She decides to see a therapist (Rip Torn) and after a few months, he tells her that he needs to have sex with her as part of her "therapy". When Lesley realizes that he's having sex with many of his female patients, she decides to sue him.

This movie kept my interest, even though it seems very dated now.
