Ed Wood with Johnny Depp
Anybody else here that like it?
shareI LOVE it, it's one of the most unusual movies of the last decades, with one of the most unlikely subjects you could imagine, and great acting from all involved! And it helped reviving the memory of an unfortunate, long-forgotten director whose movies HAD been cult in the underground scene for a long time, but only through this picture became known to mainstream audiences. And, of course, it pays the long overdue tribute to the great Bela Lugosi, THE Master of Menace in my opinion, who had been almost forgotten or at "best" ridiculed for his great performances in the 1930s that seem to be "dated" for today's audiences...
shareEd Wood is an excellent movie. I'm surprised anyone would post it on the So Bad It's Good board, especially if they are fans of the picture.
What Is Essential Is Invisible
I would say its Burton's strongest film and doesn't fit into the "So Bad They're Good" category no matter how you look at it, it even has a imdb score of 8.0

Love it. It's actually Tim Burton's best film IMHO! Also, I think it's Johnny Depp's best film performance. Should have been nominated (and won) Best Film, Director, and Actor. Of course, it's great that Martin Landau (very deservedly) won Supporting Actor that year.
shareMy favorite Burton movie, and my favorite Depp movie.
I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.
Love it. Martin Landau's Bella Lugosi was wonderful. He was able to pull off an hilarious over the top Bella one minute and depressingly pitiful one the next. A great film.
shareSo far, it's the best Tim Burton movie I watched, for sure (and I've watched most of them), but not Depp, even though he's perfect there. For me, Depp's finest is another Tim Burton masterpiece, Edward.
shareI was glad to see Bela recognized as a great star, I just wasn't entirely happy with his portrayal. The scene where he is mistaken for Karloff has him spit out "f you!" to the guy who called him Mr. Karloff. I dont believe Bela would react that way, he was too much an Old World gentleman.
