Grammys Overrated?

I believe the Grammys are vastly overrated as to there importance to the music buyer. It has become a way for the music industry to party for the weekend. Do you pay attention to the Grammys? Do you know who wins? Do you purchase music based on who won? Do you ignore the whole affair?

I think so too. The Grammy's ignore a vast majority of talent in the music business and if you look at everyone who has won best new artist recently they pretty much disappear after there win even though they just won a "Grammy". This is completely opposite of who is nominated in the major categories and even more so those that win. These artists tend to be whatever is extremely popular right now or has sold the most. I thought it was supposed to be about talent? So, no I don't really pay attention to most music awards now because of this.

I just don't understand why all they nominate is popular "pop" music. Like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady GaGa, etc. I mean, is that really all music has to offer? I like listening to all of those, but that doesn't mean that they are the best out there...then again, "best" is an opinion anyway...I dunno, but I think the Grammys are overrated...

They have all sorts of category, you know. Maybe the pop category is a lot more noticed, but that's because of the number of people that listen to mainstream.

The Grammys still have categories for rock, country, rap etc.
