Why do artists get to win music video awards?

That would be like giving the star of the movie an award for best picture. Last time I checked, Tom Hanks didn't give an acceptance speech when Forrest Gump won best picture. These artists, and I use the term loosely, are barely apart of the creative process that creates the style of the music video (there might be a few, but out of the nominees probably less than 10%). It just goes to show what a fraud some of these award shows are. They are just marketing tools to give someone a bump of exposure. "Here's an award for the video you starred in, that some team of editors, handlers, writers, special effects dept, and the director created to sell your shyt music." What a crock.
