L.A. Plays Itself (Fred Halsted, 1972)

No, not the recent documentery. I'm talking about the infamous "gay porn" film. Honestly, I don't consider this porn at all. It's an experimental, avant-garde piece of filmmaking that all fans of this sort of film should definitely seek out. I absolutely loved it. If you can take a bit of hardcore man-on-man action, see it. Has anyone else seen this?

I also watched Halsted's The Sex Garage, which is similar, but I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet.

Er... that's almost as disturbing as seeing emaciated mounds of rotting Holocaust victims for some viewers. How clinical is this "action" (nudity? intimacy? sex acts?) and about what percent of the film is devoted to it?

OK, but you did say you didn't consider it porn in your original post.

Besides the first scene, it's not on screen for extended periods of time. None of the actual hardcore action is shown long enough for someone to...enjoy it in "that" way. Also, the rest of the on-screen sex is not shown in an erotic manner. Quite the opposite in fact, and that is crucial to the film. Very eerie, ambient music and strange lighting make this film a pretty disturbing, uh...ride. And yes, that's what she said.

Also, I'm a straight male if it makes any difference.
