I know that this film was shot in 3-D but I am unaware if it was ever released to theatres that way. It is a co production of South Korea/US and is a blatant imitation of KING KONG. I have only seen it on dvd flat. I was wondering if anyone has actually seen it in 3-D during its initial release?

Yes, it was indeed released in 3-D. I knew someone who saw it back then, and I saw it in 3-D many years later from an original 3-D 35mm print.
It is gloriously bad, and for the most part the 3-D is well-shot, making the effects even more cheesy!
