'Looking' - New HBO gay themed mini series set to air 2014

HBO's "Looking" will be an 8 episodes long dramedy, with each ep running 30 minutes.

The series, created by Michael Lannan, centers on three gay friends, played by Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett, as they hunt for love and good times, with all manner of modern conveniences at their disposal.

Also in the cast is Scott Bakula , who plays Lynn, a wealthy and popular figure in the San Francisco gay community. Openly gay UK actor Russell Tovey, will make his debut on US airwaves playing the recurring role of "Kevin," also marking the first time the open and out actor has taken on a gay role.

Typical misogynistic HBO, couldn't make a lesbian series, eh? ;)

lol, I'm pretty sure they will have at least one recurring lesbian characters on there if not 2, but even if they don't fret not...

I was just googling "HBO/Looking/Lesbian" to see if there would be any lesbian characters on the show, but found out instead that Ryan Murphy has pitched a lesbian themed series called "Open" to HBO and that the pilot will film early next year, and was co-written by Murphy (Glee, Nip Tuck, and American Horror Story,) and Lauren Gussis (Dexter)

Michelle Monaghan has been cast for the lead role of "Grace," a married gynecologist that begins to question her marriage and sexuality after having an affair with her female yoga instructor "Windsor" played by Australian actress Anna Torv. Scott Speedsman has been cast to play Grace's husband "Johnathan" and Jennifer Jason Leigh will play Windsor's long time partner "Holly"

While HBO has only ordered a pilot and not a full season, I'm pretty sure that after they see the finished product that they'll go through with it. Murphy (despite Glee) is actually a decent writer/show creator, and since when could HBO turn down a show that has guaranteed lesbian pda?

Interesting. Romances based around adultery categorically turn me off but at least they're trying! Glad to know.

And before I completely close the coffin on HBO I do have to admit, If These Walls Could Talk 2 was amazing.

I loved the film "The Kids Are Alright" because the parents being lesbians wasn't the central core of the story but just a component of it.

Honestly if that's what you're out for, there's a heck of a lot of shows right now that would appeal to you. Almost any new show has gay side characters now. These just aren't considered LGBT shows.

Off the top of my head I can think of two shows where the parents are lesbians and it's virtually never remarked upon or treated as notable/strange -- The Fosters and Under The Dome.
