Queer Eye at #2? o__O

Glee at #1?? -_______-

And I love The Office but why on Earth is it even on there?

I think Queer Eye really introduced straight people to how much fun gay men are, I credit that show with pushing normal middle class white America to jumping on the LGBTQIA+ rights bandwagon.

I just really like the way The Office portrayed Oscar as a gay man. He was an accountant, he lived in Scranton, he was out, but he wasn't super feminine either.

Oh, and these are in no particular order... Any suggestions???

Fair enough.

South of Nowhere would be #1 on my personal list. Ellen obviously needs to be way, way up there near the top, too. Not only was her come-out episode legendary (and revolutionary for its time) but it's a great show and she of course is one of the most recognizable gay icons in America. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek should earn a good slot for the strides they made. Sir Ian McKellen's BBC sitcom Vicious where he and Derek Jacobi are longtime partners would be high on my personal list as well, romance among the post-middle age group is underseen. Lip Service, Sugar Rush, and In The Flesh are other great British shows that deserve a mention. Degrassi could land pretty high for hitting on a variety of different LGBT issues.

Orange is the New Black of course would be a good and timely choice, as would Transparent for being one of the rare shows with a transgender lead character. I'd also throw a nod at ChoZen, a very short-lived show but utterly hilarious and a great satire, starring a gay rapper.

Vicious is an amazing show, but there are so few episodes that I didn't include it.

Agreed with Transparent and OITNB for a list like this. I was never a fan of Ellen, however whenever LGBT and TV is mentioned, Ellen should be mentioned. The coming out episode should at least be watched if nothing else. Chozen was a great show IMHO, I'd say it's up there with "Queer Duck" and "Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World" as the great animated LGBT themed comedies ( Also the only LGBT animated comedies I've seen, but still!)and if any Reality show should be on this list I vote for Rupaul's Drag Race.

To OP:
Can't say i agree with this list (thogh I think some of the choices should be on there) lists like this are hard, and it was interesting to check out.

On a side note, just wanted to mention how All in the Family and M*A*S*H* both included homosexuality stories back in the 70s and 80s, so kudos to Norman Lear and Larry Gelbart for going there decades ago.

Also, when QAF US was on Showtime, it was a very big deal back then, so I would put QAF US higher on the list than Queer Eye.

It's downright unbelievable how revolutionary that All in the Family episode from season 1 is. It wasn't "ambiguously gay," there was nothing subtle the audience had to pick up one, it was a clear message and it completely subverted gay stereotypes as well.

I ranked it #1 on my list of top 15 "gay theme" TV episodes. http://www.imdb.com/list/ls075746916/
