No More Shows About Lesbians?

I posted this on "The L word" boards but maybe some people here have something to add to this:

Very few shows seemed to have been made about lesbian women before and after The L Word. I can only think of "The Real L Word" reality show and "Lip Service". Why do you think that is?

and if you have examples of shows that focus on lesbian women beside the examples above please let me know.

In terms of show about gay males in focus it seems to be more frequent with stuff like "Looking" "The New Normal" and the programs on the Logo network. QAF was even adapted into a US version.

Edit: I just remembered OITNB might be a more recent example. any more?

You also have South of Nowhere and Sugar Rush, two very innovative teen-oriented shows from the mid-00s. For more recent shows we do have Faking It, which deals with similar themes although only one of the main characters is a lesbian.

There was also Exes & Ohs, a lesbian sitcom on Logo. And we can count the Tipping the Velvet miniseries.

But the thing about these shows is, they're all pretty old. It's been years since we've had one of these. The only currently airing lesbian shows I'm aware of are Faking It, which barely even qualifies, and Orange is the New Black, which IMO also barely qualifies. It'd be great if we had just one full on lesbian show to watch. Alas, most networks seem content to tack on a token lesbian to an otherwise straight cast and assume that's enough.

Orange Is The New Black certainly qualifies as a lesbian show, but like you said, just barely. Other than that, you're right. Everything is pretty old now. I think definitely it's time for a new lesbian series.
