I think its Malcolm in the Middle
shareThere was a short lived sitcom in the mid 70s called "United States" with Beau Bridges and Helen Shaver, which had no laugh track.
shareHonestly, I can't watch those conventional, shot-in-front-of-a-live-studio-audience sitcoms anymore. Not only do they feel old hat, they also still possess some of the laziest comedic writing around.
shareScrubs was the first that came to my mind.
But then some eps of MASH didn't have a laugh-track...but that wasn't the whole series.
Gotta give it to Malcolm in the Middle there. Although I'm a huge Scrubs fan, indeed it was "Malcolm" the first sitcom without a laugh track, at least from the decade. And it was Scrubs that covered most part of the 00's. But I think it's safe to say they are ground-breaking, they changed american comedies forever, now people can't even stand the laugh track.

I still like laugh tracks.

Well, now I know what shows deserve the blame for ruining my idea of good TV. I love hearing the audience laughter---it doesn't even feel like a sitcom without it!
