Michael Jackson and Prince come to mind, as does Lady Diana (all three are probably more 1980s than 1990s, but were certainly still very popular in the 1990s).

Just my opinion but I don't consider Prince, Lady Diana, or Michael Jackson 90s stars because they were famous before the 90s. Same with Whitney Houston. and no, i don't find it morbid at all
