Jonathan Harris ... Dr. Zachary Smith was the first person on TV I hated.
later it was Frank Burns, Larry Linville, it's tough to be loved when you are hated, a sign of great acting.
"You bumbling boobie........."
This was a good show, that I think would have been better if they had just stuck with the earlier, more "serious" tone of the series..........the goofy "camp" that the show veered towards in later episodes was funny at times, but only in (very) small doses (in my humble opinion)......
As a young boy growing up when this show first aired, I thought "Will" (Bill Mumy) was just about the coolest kid ever, and I, of course, wished I could be him !!!!

Thanks for the post! Dr. Smith was one of the best TV (or otherwise) villains ever. And the perfect foil for Will Robinson's boyish innocence and naivete.
"Pretty...Handsome...Doctor Smith".
sharehmmm Yeah, Doctor Smith has his qualities all right - but next to Major Don West - everyone else sort of blends into the woodwork - or in this case the crevices of those foreign planets, right?
Mellow Salutations!
What really sticks out in my mind was the intro music!! Kinda like a Bossa Nova beat and you have to love that bass line in the middle and the piccolos in the end!

Written by the great Johnny Williams. If you follow the series closely enough, and pay attention to the music, you'll notice certain motifs and textures that show up later in his Star Wars score. Not the theme music per se, but the underscoring.
