HD or standard? I assume like most people today you want high definition. DSLR cameras are very popular lately for filmmaking because they opened a whole new world to people who want to do things cheaper. They're small, affordable, and they can achieve the shallow depth of field look that film has, sought after by most digital cinematographers. The Canon 7D is one to check out, or the Canon 5D mk II which is more expensive, or similar cameras.. If you want it to look much better, use good prime lenses, not the kit lenses that come with the cameras. DSLRs are good at handling low light situations. However, if you want it to look professional, you're going to need lighting. If you are recording dialog, you're going to need a recorder, a field mixer, and a couple good microphones, preferably a lavalier and some kind of shotgun mic. You're also going to want a monitor because you can't trust the LCD monitors on most cameras. You'll want a tripod if you want it to look professional unless you're going for a shaky handheld look.

Yeah, it gets expensive.
