Movies With The Most Destruction?

I noticed there were a lot of explosions and rubble in Independence Day. Everything in Washington and elsewhere was blown to smithereens by the evil aliens.

They survived the impossible...by doing the unthinkable.

Fukkatsu no hi (1980)(VIRUS)

First off, 99%+ of the human population dies from a man-made virus. Then every U.S. and Russian nuclear missile gets launched. Not much left!

There are also a few movies where the Earth gets completely destroyed, or are you looking for mayhem onscreen?

An entire planet is destroyed in Star Wars.

And yeah, there are movies with the Earth destroyed by with the exception of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, bringing them up would be pretty spoilery.

The Day After
Testament
A Boy and His Dog
Dr Strangelove

Knowing. A commercial airline crash and a subway derailing were just warm-ups to the destruction of the entire planet.

You gotta have The Towering Inferno in there. Yeah, it's just one building, however when you consider that in order to make the movie, 69 sets had to be built and 67 of them were literally set on fire and burnt to the ground and people were really set on fire, that's gotta count for something over the movies where all destruction is CGI and trick photography.

godzilla?

2012 had everything but Africa destroyed. Deep Impact and Armageddon also had plenty of destruction.
