Sword and Sandal!!!

Nothing set in a time after around 550 AD for this thread, please. Sorry, "Alfred the Great" you're just not "old" enough. For that matter, same for you, "King Arthur" (2004); set apparently in the 5th century though you may be, you look way too medieval to qualify. (But I did enjoy that movie, BTW.)

At one time, I made a "Top Ten List" of my favorite "Sword and Sandal" movies or TV shows. I can no longer remember items 6 through 10, so I'll start off this thread with my top five films or TV shows from the genre:

5. Cleopatra (1963)
4. The abridged version of the German miniseries "Quo Vadis?" (1985)
3. Fellini-Satyricon
2. Spartacus
1. I, Claudius (PBS miniseries)

Honorable mention: Any "Hercules" title starring Kevin Sorbo, the only actor I've ever seen do a better job as Hercules than even the unforgettable (and underrated) Steve Reeves.

"I don't deduce, I observe."
