Question about Dj Mag Poll

I know that this poll isn't to be taken seriously because it's nothing but a popularity contest, but since it's so, why do you think that Cash Cash and Lush and Simon didn't make it to the list. Their songs Lighting, Take Me Home, City of Lights and Ahead of us were quite popular.

reply

Lush and Simon are pretty new, I mean they produced stuff before but just recently got into the "mainstream" scene and it's kind of the same for Cash Cash plus they are from America, and a lot of dj on the poll are Europe based.

reply

Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens were just as new when they got in so I'm not sure if that's the reason. European djs are were they are because EDM industry in Europe is one of the most popular, it's not because of them being European.

reply

Yeah, that's true, you got a point there I guess. I'm telling you that because Cash Cash are from America and are very new to the poll, next year they will surely be on the list.

reply

Cos it's rigged, hardwell bribes them every year , he's not bigger than calvin Harris , he's the most successfull dj last year , and earned the most money

Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens are a sh!tton more famous than Cash Cash/Lush & Simon. Martin Garrix would be a major headliner, and Heldens is a big enough name to be on the top of the list during festivals. Cash Cash and Lush & Simon would be part of those names included in the smaller list (where they name the rest of the acts in alphabetical order). I enjoy all of their music, though, but in the end, it's really just a popularity contest.

Cash Cash/Lush & Simon have never come out with a hit as nearly as big as "Animals". That song was one of the most played songs of 2013/2014 - I remember hearing it from almost every DJ. They've also not come out with songs as big as "Gecko", "Koala", or any of Garrix's tremendous hits (Tremor, Turn Up the Speakers, Backlash, Gold Skies, etc.).

Poll is based on voting, it's not the mag that decides who's gonna be the first. Calvin Harris, Guetta, Avicii and Tiesto are more famous than Hardwell among mainstream music fans, but among those that like EDM, Hardwell is very popular and is preferred over them, even is he's not necessarily the best one. It's not a surprise that he's number one.
