A 2-CD Release of Raiders of the Lost Ark
Is this ever going to happen? Maybe now with the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm and all its assets, including Indiana Jones?
I own the latest 5-disc Lucasfilm release of all the Indiana Jones soundtracks, and with the bonus track Uncovering the Ark on disc 5, almost all the music from Raiders composed and conducted by John Williams and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra is presented.
It's lacking the brief, tragic cue when Marion is thrown into the snake pit the Well of Souls with Indy, some of the rythms when Indy realizes there's another chamber "through that wall", the shock music when Marion realizes she's in a tomb with a whole bunch of mummified corpses, and the truck chase is the same truncated version of Desert Chase found on the original 1981 version of the Raiders soundtrack. To hear the complete version of Desert Chase, you need to purchase the 1995 DCC release of the Raiders soundtrack. There's also some Arab incidental source music that was playing in the streets of Cairo and in the bar where Indy chats with Belloq that is missing.
Somebody better get on this, before the source tapes are buried in the sand for 3,000 years, like the Ark.
