Hypothetical Blade runner score question :)

Hi one and all, I was wondering if anyone knows if anyone else was given the opportunity to do the music for Blade Runner other then Vangelis? Reason I am asking is that I got listening to some of Tangerine Dream and also Jean Michael Jarre and I still think they could have done a pretty damn awesome job if they had been given the opportunity. Tangerine Dream still has a special place in my heart especially with the score they did for Michael Mann's The Keep...

I guess this is a hypothetical question. How different do you think a film like Blade Runner would feel if the score was done by someone different.....???

I believe that they approached or at least considered Isao Tomita before hiring Vangelis.

I could be wrong but I think he turned them down as he wasn't interested in scoring films during that period. Vangelis had just completed Chariots Of Fire and Scott hired him immediately as soon as he heard it.
