I would have to say add Any Given Sunday to the list, or if you havent seen it give it a go!

reply

I've seen Any Given Sunday and while it was a decent film, every flick on my top 20 is much better IMO...

Any Given Sunday tops my list. The cast, characters, performances, soundtrack and game scenes were all great I thought. I think Stone must have pretty much hit the nail on the head with his portrayal of that environment and the decline of the game from a moralistic ot traditionalist point of view.

1. Any Given Sunday
2. Raging Bull
3. Miracle
4. Escape to Victory
5. Slapshot
6. Jerry Maguire
7. The Rookie
8. Everybody's All American
9. Friday Night Lights
10. Rudy
11. Rocky
12. Varsity Blues
13. Invincible
14. Hoosiers
15. Days of Thunder
16. Rocky IV
17. Major League
18. Youngblood
19. Tin Cup
20. Driven
21. Goal

It's actually pretty hard to rank and/or classify them, given the different genres encompassed as well as the dirrennt emphasis on the actual 'sport' in a sports movie. Plenty of guilty pleasures in there too. I love 'Caddyshack' but just can't see fit to include it in a list of sports films.
