Yes sir, this is my favorite boxing movie. I have never read the book, but this movie felt like nonfiction. It has to be the most un-romanticized sports movie of all time. It gets little love nowadays, but huston captured the flawed characters in this sport very, very well.
shareI find it rather interesting that the great studio director, whose career was built within the traditional system (with a little help from dad), was able to make such a great film in the spirit of the so-called "New Hollywood" of the early '70s.
