OKay I bought Friday Night Lights on sale for $4. As I'm watching, I'm 30 minutes in and am wondering 'where's van der beek and the fat guy with the pig'...oh wrong movie...
i watched all of friday night lights and just wasn't that pleased. it was decent and probably fairly accurate, but imho i just thought varsity blues was much more enjoyable...
is it because i'm a girl?
I personally like Friday Night Lights much better than Varsity Blues.

I enjoy them both. One is a more entertaining guilty pleasure film while the other is more dramatic and probably a better 'sports' film. It's like comparing apples and oranges, similar, but quite different.
The best sports films almost always seem to be based on true stories for some reason.

Varsity Blues has Ali Larter and the infamous whip cream bikini.
Varsity Blues wins.
