What's your opinion of Krokus?

Now in my 60's I finally bought a couple of their CDs. They sound like an amazing band but have remakes of classic songs, like Born to Be Wild, mixed in with their other songs. This is probably good in concert but, IMO, hurts their albums.

By the way, their lead singer sounds like he could take over in AC/DC (though he's probably really old by now).

I think their best original album is "Headhunter".

Several years ago their aptly named "The Definitive Collection" (http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Krokus/The_Definitive_Collection/154608) was on sale at Amazon.com and I picked it up for a song (pun intended).

When I buy an album I want to hear new material. Covers are best for b-sides and live performances.

My first impression of Krokus was not a good one. I didn't know a lot about heavy metal back in the mid 1980s. When I saw the video for Krokus' cover of "School's Out" I thought they were a fictitious band like Spinal Tap because lead singer Marc Storace resembled comedic actor Eugene Levy.

There is an urban legend that Marc Storace was offered the job as AC/DC's lead singer after Bon Scott passed away in 1980 and turned it down. That is not accurate. A mutual friend of Krokus and AC/DC wanted Storace to try out for AC/DC, but he didn't want to pursue it. He felt loyalty to his band mates and thought Krokus was going to be huge.

Storace is now 64 years old and I don't know if he still sings. But I think I would prefer him singing with AC/DC instead of Axl Rose. The current incarnation of AC/DC is very weak.
