Rate these works of William Walton in order ...

Like Webern, Varese and others William Walton's most important works can be summarised in one short list. I thought it fun to ask readers to rate them in order of quality, or artistic success:

Belshazzar's Feast
Cello concerto
Façade (Suites 1 & 2)
Violin Concerto
Viola Concerto
Violin Sonata
Symphony 1
Symphony 2
Hindemith Variations
String Quartet
5 Bagatelles for Guitar
Sinfonia Concertante
Troilus & Cressida
The Bear
Film music (achievement overall)

You've omitted the only thing of his I really like, ie the Coronation Te Deum, though admittedly I don't know many of the works you listed...not that keen to find out either.

Belshazzar is very noisy...all those top As in the soprano line - such a headache, but what it suffers from most is it being so very British, & that's not really a good thing.

The music he scored for the horses walking, trotting, cantering & then galloping across the fields before the release of a 1000 arrows in the Agincourt battle scene of Henry V, is fantastic, I'll give him that.
