48 hours on ID ' Preacher's Passon'
I just watched this episode and cannot believe the outcome. l have to say that l am just baffled at the defense's "expert" witness that claimed PEA which stands for pulseless electrical activity is "only" caused by drugs or blood volume loss. The reason this upsets me so much is because that puts a very big misconception out there. I am normally not one who posts comments on a lot of things, but this just really got under my skin... l work with cancer patients in a hospital, and needless to say have seen quite a few of deaths. There is a special device called a telemetry box, which is basically a small device worn by patients that need to have constant monitoring of their heart rhythm. This is attached to the patient 24 hours and day and is monitored by a special team of trained medical professionals as well as the nurses on the floor. There have been several deaths where we had patients that were exhibiting PEA and it was not drug induced or due to blood volume loss, which basically means someone loses too much blood. PEA just means that even though the heart has stopped pumping and the patient has passed away, the electrical impulses that cause the heart to beat and sustain life have not completely stopped. There is no way to resuscitate the person at this point. It just really irritates me when people with "medical expertise" just flat out lie or claim something that they say is an ABSOLUTE fact, as this guy, Dr. Bonnell, just flat out wrong. The prosecutor requested to put a rebuttal witness on the stand, which the judge refused, and thus became a key statement in the trial, actually as one juror stated it was the deciding factor.. I think this guy was guilty and he got away with it because of what this doctor had said. The even more surprising thing us one of the jurors was a nurse. The judge in this case was just wrong, wrong, wrong by not allowing the prosecution to argue against this "expert" witness. I believe if he had than justice would have Bern served.
