CSI Episode Aftermath: 48 Hours to Life

This is a question reserved to all the die hard fans of CSI. Though I am not much of a fan, I have seen a few episodes from the series, and I haven't exactly been okay with the endings. This is cause they don't completely elaborate on the victim or suspect's fate. SO I am shouting out to anyone who has seen the episode to ask what they personally think should/could/would happen, going by the standards of real life, to the suspects/victims of the episode.

The third episode I wanted to ask about was "48 Hours to Life". Does anyone have any guesses what could/will happen to Tobey Hollins, after the end scene? Could he get released from prison after killing his cellmate? Will he be able to go back to his life after his ordeal? Will he be able to sue Tripp for coercing a confession? Or is he screwed in the end? Please reply with whatever possible aftermaths you can think of.
