Gimp users, I need some help

For all of those who use Gimp, can you please tell me how to use it? I've recently started an interest in photography and I've been using this program because it's cheaper than photoshop but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. Can someoe explain what tools I need to use or post some really good tutorials on here? Much appreciated.--Aimee

Here's a good link: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/

GIMP is somewhat hard to use. I downloaded it a while back and hated it. Then I bought Photoshop Elements 7 and read a book on that and understood it. Recently I went back to GIMP and found I understood it, and loved it more than Photoshop Elements.

If you can, I'd suggest getting Photoshop Elements (or at least a free trial). The learning curve is better. Then you can go back to GIMP (which is what I did).

Another small tip is under the Colour menu are some of your basic Hue/Saturation, Levels, Brightness/Contrast, etc tools. That's always helped me.

Cheers!

Probably the best and easiest tutorial I've used

I don't do photo manipulations an awful lot but this tutorial uses pretty much all the different tools you'll find in Gimp so it's a good way of learning what things do and how to use them effectively.

Hope that helps =)
