Is there a way to change perspective on digital images?

I want to put a small version of an image in another image, so that it looks like the first image is hanging on the wall shown in the second image. The viewer is looking down the wall instead of directly at it.

The result would be something like this (from a quick Google search):

I'm broke, and don't have Photoshop (actually, I might have a 10-15 year old copy somewhere, but I'm not sure where.) A free program that runs on XP without taking up too much space or memory would be great.

Also, is there a way to calculate the angle of the wall (from a photo), so that other images could be changed to that perspective without having to do a lot of trial and error?

You can do that with Photoshop. There is a free photo editing program called Gimp, but I don't know if it does that.

After a bit of Googling, I discovered GIMP, and it does have a perspective morph that works great. It's a pretty nice program, and considering the price (free) I'm going to keep it around.

The GIMP is nice, especially because it's completely free and unencumbered. Great find!

Is the effect you're looking for the "Ken Burns effect"? It's been done to death IMO...

Nope, not the Ken Burns effect. I was wanting to take some flat images and "hang them on the wall" of an image where the viewer wasn't looking directly at the wall, but rather down the wall in perspective.

try using someones old glasses held in front of your camera,ive even managed to takes pictures through binoculars,very fiddly but clear images of car numberplates at distances over 100m with a 2mp phone camera aint to bad,good luck.
