Anyone else hate having the stomach bug?

Why does throwing up make you thirsty? I was running today and was very thirsty when I got back and wanted a sip of juice. The taste reminded me of when I'd get sick during the night and my mouth gets really dried out. Sometimes I'd go downstairs and get some juice because I was extremely thirsty. And I'd bring it upstairs with me and sip it all night. Is it because of stomach acid that you get very thirsty?
I will never ever drink orange Koolaid again. gross. I drank it once after I had thrown up a couple times and wanted it upstairs with me when I went to bed. This was in January 2001 and I haven't had it since. Another time it was a Tropical punch flavored guzzler. That was in April 1999. I don't see Guzzlers anymore. I loved the green apple. Next time I'm sticking with water to quench my thirst when I'm sick.
Longest time I went without tossing my cookies was 5 years, from November 2006 to November 2011, then again 2 years ago. I hope I can make it another 5 or more. I know I'll have to get it again eventually. Sometimes it ruins my year if I get it. 2013 was a bad year and that made it even worse even if it was just one time. Then my stomach was messed up for the next few days and I barely had an appetite. Seems like lately every time, it's when the Cardinals are in the World Series.
