Has anyone here quit sugar?

Or have the desire to?

Anyway... I quit sugar again 11 days ago and already feel better physically, emotionally, and mentally. I was a sugar addict in the form of mocha frappes, not so much anything else, but still addicted to those drinks. I'd been learning over the past year or so how detrimental sugar is to one's over-all health and well-being, it's amazing and eye opening how much it affects you. But you really see it when you let it go, and you stop craving it after just a few days. This is not my first time letting it go but I sure as heck am going to try and make it my last.

I've quit bread and that's made one HELL of a difference to how I feel! I've also dropped half a stone in two weeks, so yeah, bread and pasta is now officially off the menu for me. Never been much of a sugar junkie anyway, but depends whether you're talking natural or refined sugar. I eat a lot of fruit, so I suppose I'm still getting a fair amount of sugar in my diet, but I don't eat anything with refined sugar in it (no cakes/biscuits etc).

Yeah, I did mean refined sugar, I will eat fruit. That's great that you quit bread and pasta and it's so great that you feel better and lost weight. I too am avoiding white flour, they say it turns into sugar in your body. Have you ever tried Ezekial whole grain bread? It doesn't have flour or sugar, and all the whole grains in it are sprouted. It's what I eat and both me and my body love it.

Never heard of it mate, mind you, in the UK it's hard to find anything that isn't Warburton's sliced white or bloody Hovis! I just now avoid anything wheat-based (if I go for a 'snack' of any kind I use rice cakes instead, despite the fact that they look, taste and even sound like a polystyrene foam tile). I've actually got to the point now where I don't really miss bread that much, either.

Although I am getting a little tired of damn tuna salads...

I found this bread in the UK that's seems on par with Ezekial: http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/detail/713205_Everf resh_Organic_Sprouted_Wheat_Bread_400g.html, in case you wanna put that tuna on bread or have a nice veggie burger or delicious sandwich. (Sorry, I love my sandwiches). I just realized it's whole wheat but it does have grains in there and is yeast free and looks like a healthy option other than the wheat thing.

I have not bought a bag of refined sugar for years. I don't add sugar to anything, but I eat things with sugar in, like the piece of apple and blackberry pie a friend baked for me I just remembered is waiting to be eaten. So no really!

Ah, hell diddly-ding-dong crap!

I'm no MD, but it sounds like a low blood suger type of thing. From what I read, you might be able to help that by making sure you eat breakfast and making sure you eat thru out the day - meals and snacks. You should google low blood sugar or hypoglycemia to see if it sounds like what you might have. And maybe let your Doc know.

I switched to Splenda and stopped eating foods with refined sugar and feel much better although it was more gradual than you but then I never was big on sweets.
