Active Shooter Situations ???

So, a number of decades ago, airplane hijackings were all the 'rage', yet eventually went (for the most part) completely away.

Even though that particular 'fad' had specific reasons for developing, and then falling by the wayside, does the idea of unhinged people with lives so empty that one day they just decide to go to some populated venue and start blowing away other completely innocent human beings, ever fall out of 'favor'..........or does it simply keep escalating like some sick, twisted game of "can you top this" ??? 

I was listening to a panel discussing terrorist attacks (not specifically Islamic) a while back. One of the panelists came up with the following that I thought significant towards explaining what's going on today.

He postulated that Al-Qaida had been too successful on 9/11 and brought down the wrath of the USA on it. Now ISIS and the other terrorist groups are being taught to "chip away at the edges" by making smaller attacks that will eventually lead to high casualty counts plus demoralize and frighten people into changing their way of life. The Nice, Berlin and Columbus, OH truck attacks, the Turkish and Orlando night club shootings, the Boston bombing are examples of "chipping away." No deaths are insignificant if you or a loved one are victims obviously, but none is calculated to create the outrage that 9/11 invoked.

I expect to see them continue until the world is so sick of them that they literally smash those elements, or until we make their innocents as frightened and demoralized as they're trying to make us, which IMO we're too civilized to do especially when the European and certain elements are too intent on defending them as being just the radicalized fringe elements.

I'd say that it will continue until we start fighting back. There have been situations where there were people who attempted mass shootings that have been stopped by legal firearm carriers. It has happened. I think that the more citizens that are armed and trained on how to properly use their gun, than the less it will happen. We have way too much gun control in this country and they know it. These shootings usually happen in "gun-free" zones where they know that most likely nobody will shoot back.
