Were pre-contact Native Americans as advanced as medieval Africans?

What I mean is, were the respective Aztec and Inca empires and the Mayan civilization comparable in technological or political sophistication as, say, the Malian or Ethiopian empires or the other African civilizations prior to 1500 A.D.?

reply

Potentially more advanced, if you look at the scale of the cities they built. Though I believe the Malian and Ethiopian Empire both had the wheel though.

They all had the wheel

Possibly more. There has never been one generally accepted explanation of how the Nazca drawings, which can only be completely seen from the air, were drawn.

reply

Ethiopians were quite advanced, but they had been like forever related with the surrounding cultures. The terms 'African' and 'American' do not generally relate much - but more often than not, many of such cultures knew little else but about their very own culture.

I'm sorry but this sentence made no sense to me.

We try but we don't belong...

Africa has many separate unlinked cultures, like Americas have. Inuits hardly knew Incas nor did Numidians much know about Zimbabweans.

Well... duh.

How does this answer my question?

reply

The pre columbian civilisations never developed the wheel
