It's very sad that they let the building go to rot. I don't blame the people who live in Detroit (for the abandoned builings) I blame the people who moved from Detroit in to the suburbs. I also think if they had a mass rail system like the CTA in Chicago then they would have a lot more people living there.

If I'm not mistaking, there was a documentary in 2009 that focused around a good portion of workers who were laid off by one of the auto companies in Detroit. It was pretty informative, very authentic and conveyed a message that needed to be heard. Unfortunately, I can't think of the title off my head, but I'll try to find it for those interested.
