Napoleon film coming in 2015

As reported on the IMDb's front page today, Warner Bros. is set to release an "epic" biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte in 2015, the 200th Anniversary of Waterloo.

The director is Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman).

It's being produced by the same folks who did 300... Let's just hope it doesn't look like that movie (cartoon/green screen city), and doesn't take as many historical liberties.

Being a Napoleonic history buff I have high hopes for this film, but put me down as being skeptical that a single theatrical motion picture can do the subject justice. (That 2002 A&E miniseries is six hours long... and still skimps on way too many of the details.)

Its about bloody time! Kubrick was going to do a Napoleon biopic, but did Barry Lyndon instead alledgely because Waterloo did so poorly at the box office.

In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

Indeed : there are quite a few French movies ofcourse on Napoleon as "Austerlitz" from Abel Gance (1960) or the big budgeted French TV-series from 2004 starring Christian Clavier as Napoleon.

There is no doubt that I will see this film.
Bonaparte is still highly admired in France and I just hope this film lives up to my expectations.

I agree that it is very hard to put all the important events in his life in one movie, even a 3-hour-long one. Maybe if they set the main story around the battle of Waterloo and remembers in flashbacks some earlier scenes of his life or something like that.
