Bigart was started to find that the partisans "were quite ordinary flesh and blood who shaved and bathed regularly and were kind to their horses," men convinced that their cause was right, that they would eventually win, and that "the regime in Athens was completely subservient to American interests." He also found that the equipment in the one military hospital he came across, under the command of an single woman doctor who had performed more than a thousand operations, was so primitive that "often amputations had to be done without anesthetic and with a kitchen knife." Meals consisted mostly of "bitter unsalted bread" and goat cheese...

Aulic, that gave me a laugh. I wasn't expecting that. Connecting the dots between Hollywood and the USS Liberty, it is extremely unlikely that this film will ever be made ;)

I'm surprised that Wouk even mentioned the incident in his novel The Glory. But he mentioned The Altalena incident in The Hope, so why I guess I shouldn't have been.
