I'll add every film that's been done on the Crusades. Cecil B DeMille managed to have Conrad of Montferrat hanging around plotting in England and France when he was actually defending Tyre when everyone else was still at home!
Most of the Jesus movies have been iffy, to say the least. I'm with Paul Verhoeven on the subject (in his interesting biography): if a scene can only be imagined with special effects, it didn't happen. Once you take 'miracle scenes' literally, you push a film into the realm of fantasy, not history. (Verhoeven thinks The Life of Brian is far superior, historically, to Gibson's snuff-movie, and he's right!)
