I can't explain this

Three of us traveled to a Steeler football game. We had some time to kill so "Joe" saw a fortune telling shop and wanted his fortune read. Most of the stuff she said to him was kind of general. But she said three things that made us think twice. She said to him you have a brother living in Boston (he does). Then she said his new business will be a big success. His brother had just opened up a bar/restaurant. Now a year later he is making a ton of money. Maybe she guessed he had a brother but how would she know he open a new business? But even more amazing is with the thousands of cities across America how in the world did she know to pick Boston.

The other thing she asked is who's driving home. He pointed to the other guy because we went in his car. She then said someone else please drive home. He took whiskey into the game with fake binoculars and got plastered. He insisted he wanted to drive home but we remembered what the fortune teller said. So I insisted I drive. He finally agreed. I don't know if she saw us in a bad accident or what. But I did get stopped on the way home because of a burnt out headlight.

Cool story. Glad it worked out.

She may have had some real talent and psychic ability.

She may also have just been really good at faking it. That’s what most of them do. For example, she may have picked up on a MA accent, or one of you had a Boston logo, or she looked out the window and saw the license plate on the car, picked up on something one of you said... stuff like that. The success of the brother could have been a lucky guess. And maybe with the driver she picked up that he was a drinker. There are physical and behavioural signs.
But either way, she was very good.

Did she try and sell spiritual candles to him or tell him he was cursed?

Good points you make. But still to know he had a brother in Boston that started a new business and that it would be a big success is something.

Sure, but did she say other stuff that wasn’t true?

You could take any young man and chances are he has a brother who has had some success.

My point is that there are generalities that charlatans are experts at exploiting.

That said, I am a believer in psychic ability.

I know for a fact it exists and it’s rare and no one can cultivate it the way store front gypsys pretend to be able to.
