Fairly awful. Seems to be intentionally bad as a parody, maybe.

There is a good amount of Giant monster films from America during the 1950's, of course, most of them are giant bug releated. Not too many actual "kaiju", but I suppose the The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms would count as an American kaiju film. It's a great movie, and one of the inspirations for the original Gojira movie.

If you would like a list of some good giant monster films, I've made one that you can check out here.

I like those old atomic movies. "Them" is probably my favorite one.

Depends on how you define 'kaiju.' If it has to have some type of superpower, like a breath weapon, then 'The Flying Claw' would be considered a kaiju. It's a fanged buzzard "the size of a battleship" that flies at supersonic speeds and is protected by an antimatter shield.

If they just have to be huge to qualify, then the Rhedosaurus from 'Beast from 20,000 Fathoms,' the giant octopus from 'It Came From Beneath the Sea,' and 'The Giant Gila Monster' can be considered kaiju.
