In 1976, I was 15 years old. I saw many of these movies in the theater when they opened. My first thought after reading the post was 'Carrie'. My friends and I would go see this every weekend. I think the attraction was watching other teens, their behavior, how they did their hair etc. I re-watched this recently, and found it so sad and depressing I could barely get through it. How callous I must have been in my youth. Anyway, I think this is an important film, if not a good one. It set a standard. It created stars.
The Song Remains The Same, hasn't faired as well as Gimme Shelter. But they're apple and oranges. Gimme Shelter is so much more than a concert film, and Song, is not. Zepplin fans only.
All The President's Men was huge. Still love that movie. It's had an impact on me politically, and echoed a pervasive feeling of distrust in or leaders. And Robert Redford. OMG.
I also really like Pakula's 'Parallax View',10/10.
