Can someone explain this to me?
This is excerpted from the wikipedia article on the making of the movie Fight Club.
high-contrast print stocks were chosen to create a "stepped-on" look on the print with a dirty patina.
I have lately gotten interested in the cinematography of that movie but that passage, which enumerates on how the film's 'look' was achieved in post-production, makes no sense to me.
