Power Lines Collapsing Independent Film

If you want it to look realistic, you might want to make it look like an electric arc, and not a sparkler. Power lines are not pyrotechnics. Under what circumstance do you think that power lines would "spark"? If you want it to look good, you'll need it to look plausible.

The phrase "severs from the pole" makes no sense. Does the cable sever the pole? Does the pole sever the cable? Is the cable severed (cut) by some third object? Is the pole cut? Precisely what is happening?

If you want a "wire" to follow the same track again and again, you could use a relatively short length of stiff wire, and steer it from the other end. You can also use good old fishing line to help guide the wire to its spot. You can also make your "wire" out of a more suitable material, like fiberglass, for instance. Obviously you don't want your star to suffer a broken neck from a prop...

The wire severs from the pole. I believe I already stated that in my original post. I appreciate the advice but, as it turns out, I may have to go a different route by making my main character clairvoyant, as the location I had backed out of the deal and so, I'm back to square one. Still, thank you for the advice!

I'll just add that as a typical film goer, I would have believed that it was severed. I'm curious how it turns out, good luck!

*whispers* I'm not going to respond directly but my answer to those who know that it's "not bonded to the poles" and "" is that I didn't read the OP's description so literally.
