Beauty and the Beast (1946)
Legend
Dracula (1992)
Legend. Of course legend. Though I much wouldve hoped Darkness wouldve had his way with lily.
Beauty and the beast. Ive seen that version images around. But I havent checked it out. Also its in Black and white and im not sure right now im in the mood for black and white though I do like black and white. There is also one with Kinski, i thought you meant that one when i first read your post. Of course there is the best the beauty and the beast series.
I dont know why I never liked that dracula movie. There are other ones I much prefer John Carpenter's Vampire types.

______
Ladyhawke (1985) Of course Ladyhawke. I think I was looking one just like it.
Not so sure about eternal sunshine too abstract, Romeo- too shakesperan and too over the top i think the beach is a bit better, dont think of ghost as one as its too much about ghosts, and the fountain is far too abstract i always pictured it about mediating and the universe.
The other ones I have to research. Some seem familiar but I dont know much about. Especially the foreign ones. Not that I dont like foreigns I just dont know these.
Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nitwit.
Why Do fools fall in love?
I dont know why but i get the feeling of dead presidents.
I guess the wood.
a little of v for vendetta.
I dont know why i get the idea of Frankenstein with de niro.
The scenes in taxi driver between de niro and betsy.
Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nitwit.
Thanks for your reply. It's a bit difficult to give accurate suggestions because it's not really clear to me what you'd consider "dark" (for example, your OP mentioned Far And Away (1992), which I wouldn't call dark; however, it's a perfect example of "star-crossed lovers").
If you haven't seen Ghost (1990) then I strongly recommend it, it's kind of the ultimate romantic movie with a crime/thriller/mystery/dark fantasy angle that appeals to both women and men. The romantic pottery-sculpturing scene is classic.
Here are a few more titles that are easily accessible (in other words: with simple linear storytelling, and not too abstract), although they may not be really dark:
- A Life Less Ordinary (1997)
- In The Mood For Love (2000)
- Hemel op Aarde (2013) a.k.a. Love Is The Word - although it's about teens, and more about coming-of-age.
You might find more titles in the following list: http://www.imdb.com/search/keyword?keywords=star-crossed-lovers
A few titles from that list that look promising (as a potential match to your question) but that I haven't seen myself:
- Love Story (1970)*
- Somewhere In Time (1980)*
- Dead Again (1991)*
- Lovelorn (2010)*
- Cassandra (2011)*
I hope this helps.
