Your story?
Someone on the Bold and the Beautiful board posted a topic on how you came to watch your favorite soap. I thought that was pretty interesting.
How did you all "find" your soap of choice?

Yeah, the Bold story lines are getting hard to swallow! I began watching when I worked at a home the summer after high school for elderly and disabled residents. They watched CBS news with lunch, then Bold was on after, when I was cleaning the dining room. So, that is how I got into it.
Mom was a Days' fan, so I did keep up with that off and on, but could not take the amount of time they dragged story lines out.
airtime has much to do with it. In the US in the '50's CBS-TV had The Secret Storm at 4:15 pm and The Edge of Night at 4:30 - ideal times for relaxing when you got home from school. In the '70's when I lived abroad Swedish TV carried Emmerdale Farm in the early evening, perfect for after-dinner viewing. Now with VCRs I suspect air time makes little or no difference.
shareI was never that big of a soap fan. But I recall many visits to my aunt's house when I was a kid, and she'd be watching her soaps, mostly those on CBS. Even in the early 70s, soaps still used organ music.
