Annoying Usage of Songs
I just turned off the radio as I didnt want to listen to the Beach Boys' "Down In Kokomo" and remembered it used to be in the background at the height of its popularity on Guiding LIght, playing when Phillip was talking to someone.
One of the most glaring I recall was on Loving, when it was played at a party, high-brow, I guess, with tuxedoes and long gowns, Cabot was talking to Isabel and you hear The Cars, "Who's Gonna Drive You Home Tonight?"
It sounded so ridiculous. I think many of these songs were put in later on.
Of course, the idea that Patch and Kayla's song on Days Of Our Lives was Broken Wing was ridiculous as well. They were all wanting a 'new' song to be promoted over their characters, then everyone would identify the song with the characters and the show, as was supposed to have happened on General Hospital with Patti Austin and James Ingram's Come to Me.
Bruce Springsteen's I'm On Fire would get played on Pete and Melissa on Days of Our Lives as well.
I remember Loving likewise, when Do they Know It's Christmas came out or was released in America, had the song playing on a tape recorder on a desk as two people were talking. I was like, really?
We're supposed to hear that and go, hey, what song is that?
