Question re Green Lantern

I'm a decades-long DC fan with good knowledge of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Justice League (comics, animation and live-action movies/TV) and the DCU in general. One character I've never been able to get into is Green Lantern - and as time's gone on the task of trying to has become more daunting (now of course with the mountain of stuff that Johns did). Any knowledge I do have of GL comes from Justice League and occasional crossovers. So... is watching GL:TAS (which I've never seen) a good way of 'breaking into' the world and mythos of Green Lantern? And is the world of GL:TAS pretty consistent with the comics?

All for a box of chocolates...

Rebirth sort of "reset" the franchise while also acknowledging the mythos. Start there.

Say, do you hear that? It's the sound of the Reaper.....

Okay, thanks. I've read some Rebirth but not GL.

The "Hal Jordan & the Green Lantern Corps" book is decent, but it's a case of a book being so close to actual goodness it actually hurts it, because you can see all the things it could have done to achieve it but didn't. Best thing about it is the art, which to be fair is awesome.

The "Green Lanterns" book started with a truly horrible arc, and then moved to a mediocre one. The current arc (meaning the last two issues, #9 and #10) has been awesome, though.
