First HDTV Retro Gaming Setup Questions

Hi all,

I've been gaming since the early 90s, but haven't committed to a retro gaming setup on a modern hdtv due to the various hoops to jump through. For the last few years I've been using mostly emulators (I had a Super NT that I just sold due to audio buzzing issues). I'm at the point now where I want to get a proper setup for retro consoles with the best video and audio quality possible, and any suggestions would be awesome. Right now I want to get my SNES and Genesis ready to go, but I also have an original Xbox and Wii that I will be hooking up via component (I'd like to add a PC Engine and Saturn into the mix at some point too).

My general plans are as follows right now: I have a SNES Jr. that I plan on getting RGB modded; I have a Genesis Model 1 (not sure if it's high definition graphics version as it's in my storage unit), so I will need RGB cables for these. The OSSC seems like the best bet for what I'm trying to do right now.

I have seen scart switches to get around the OSSC only having one input for each type, but I have heard they usually exhibit some loss of image quality- is this true? The same as well for a component switch. Also, any suggestions on shielded cables?

How about audio mods for the SNES and Genesis? I've heard that the Genesis stereo audio can be improved, and that RGB can cause some audio buzzing on both, which has already driven me nuts with the Super NT.

Thanks!
