DVD vs Blu-Ray releases

I got The Virgin Suicides Criterion DVD as a gift and thought that i would be missing out on something because i only have Criterion Blu-Ray releases, but at the end of the day, i realized the only thing that actually changed was the format, because all the extras, packaging, etc. is exactly the same on both releases, so... When is it worth it to get a Blu-Ray or DVD Criterion release? Do you think saving a couple of bucks makes a difference https://showbox.bio/ https://tutuapp.uno/?

If it's only a couple of bucks, I usually go with the blu ray. If it's more than around five bucks or more, I go with the dvd. When I purchased Barry Lyndon, the blu ray was around $28, the dvd only $15, so I got the dvd. But recently I purchased the blu ray of Hopscotch for around $20 and the dvd was $15. I thought it was worth paying a little extra. Blu rays are better quality discs, won't scratch as easily and are easier to store.
I also purchased the Indiana Jones films on blu ray for the first time a few days back and there is a noticeable difference in the clarity of the film. It was an Amazon special for less than the dvd set, at around $23.
Watching Star Trek the Next Generation on blu ray is a massive difference compared to the dvds, too. I bought season 3 for only about $20 on blu ray compared to $15 for the dvd. The upgrade in quality was so noticeable I then spent around $40 for season 4 on blu ray compared to $15 for the dvd.
And I will likely do the same for seasons 5-7. I haven't decided if I will buy the first two seasons.
